Dr. David Cheng received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He continued his dental education at the Baylor College of Dentistry. The general rule is that you should bring your child to the dentist either when their first tooth comes in or starting when they are six months old. At Mi Casa Family Dentistry and Orthodontics, we love helping little ones!
Kids under three years old should see the dentist every two to three months. Kids older than three years old should see the dentist every 6 months. With these routine visits, we can make sure no cavities or other dental concerns have developed. It is also crucial that your child have a regular pediatric teeth cleaning in Austin.
We understand that a dental office can seem a little scary for kids at first. We try to help children feel at home with our office amenities, including video games, and blankets and pillows. We even have TVs in our treatment rooms above the dental chairs so kids can stay entertained while we take care of their teeth! You’re more than welcome to bring your child in before their appointment to check out our office and meet our team so they can know what to expect. Mi Casa Family Dentistry and Orthodontics also has nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and sedation available to help calm younger kids who are nervous.
Just because baby teeth fall out eventually doesn’t mean they’re not important. They can still develop cavities and gum disease, which can lead to other more serious problems. They also guide permanent teeth to come in correctly, help with speech development, and make it easier to chew properly.
